Beware the social media OVERSHARE trap ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Hey Reader

Confession...I DO NOT post my friends, family, or romantic partners on the internet. I recommend you don't either.

Viewers sometimes ask "why don't you ever show your friends or family?" And MAN OH MAN am I excited to share.

Oversharing Causes Burnout

Keeping your private life private will help you maintain a healthy work-life balance. I'm very extreme with this.

Internet culture has normalized sharing every little area of our lives. But remember, WE'RE BUSINESS OWNERS. Not monkeys in a cage.

To give you an idea, here's some things I WILL NOT post

๐Ÿ‘‰ If I ever get married, you will not hear about it or see a pic. (No judgement if you share your wedding pics! this is just my own personal stance. I'm an extremist)

๐Ÿ‘‰ My nephew was just born, and I won't be posting a pic of him (ever, if I can help it).
โ€‹
๐Ÿ‘‰My ex-partner of 17 years was never shown in any way.

Don't Invite Strangers to Your Dinner Table

As your business coach, you should ONLY EVER POST things you're willing to have judged, discussed, and talked about.

When you think of it like that, it becomes pretty clear that friends and family content is off the table.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Nobody needs to "see" your romantic partners, or even know if you have one!

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ The internet doesn't deserve the pic of your wedding. (unless you want to share of course!)
โ€‹
๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Strangers on the internet don't deserve to see your newborn baby or toddler (That's probably something you should save for FAMILY)

Don't Get "Friend Zoned"

Online business is beautiful, but boundaries are still required if you want to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We don't owe the internet our entire lives.

Oversharing always runs the risk of shifting you into a person they gawk at on the internet...rather than a trusted authority.

Operate your business like a business, and share your life's work. This helps your customers to SEE YOU AS A TRUSTED AUTHORITY, which in turn will GROW YOUR PROFITS.

๐Ÿฉต,
Brenda

P.S. Here's a video from last month that goes a little deeper on internet culture and business in general!

Hey Reader I'm not one to beg..but I'm begging you to remember this truth ๐Ÿ‘‡ The algorithm is your servant....not your boss. Here's the thing...this isn't true for everyone. It's not true for people who choose to "please the algorithm." Trying to please the algorithm is like sisyphus pushing a rock up a hill. I promise when you start creating content that ๐Ÿซต YOU WISH existed, the algorithm becomes your servant. You've been studying your crafts for YEARS. You know what's truly good. You know...

Hey Reader Today's episode won't be my most popular. And that's ok...because I stand behind every single word. Could I sell you a $2k course to help you "Manifest". Sure. Would it work? Probs not. I'm not saying that the Law of Attraction isn't real. I'm also not saying to throw away your Law of Attraction books! I've probably read every law of attraction book that's ever been written Here's my stash ๐Ÿ‘‡ But there are many other "laws" in this universe...and I have a hunch that the law of...

Hey Reader My crystal ball says you're itching to create something "Different"...something out of the ordinary. You're itching to talk about your thing in a way that is fresh and new. A FRESH NEW TIDE is trying to break through in your life....and your work! But...gasp....what if it fails? This is the conversation EVERY glitter covered alien has with ourselves. We get an insight to create something new, and then think "But will it work?" Here's a greatest hits from my very own inner gremlins...
