Some people use the weekend to blow off steam, to "escape" life, to eat foods that aren't great, and to stay up way too late. Then comes Monday, and we're even more exhausted and cluttered than before.

Today I want to offer you a different take on how to use weekends. Here are some simple weekend rituals I've adopted after twenty years of studying and teaching body, mind, & spirit wellness. These really work!

Weekend Rituals for Body, Mind, & Spirit

RITUAL 1 - UNPLUG
Where most people use the weekend to catch up on shows, you can start to use this time to unplug and go deeper within yourself. Spend long stretches of time without checking your phone, and watch your nervous system unwind and recalibrate.

RITUAL 2 - FUN MOVEMENT
I love a gym workout as much as the next health nut, but everyone goes to the gym on the weekends. They get so crowded and hectic!

Instead, we can use the weekend to recalibrate our nervous systems with FUN! Fun, outdoor stuff can be even better for your body than going to the gym. Get to a rock climbing gym, go for a hike, go to a dance class, or setup a slack line in your local park. Those are just a few ideas to get you started.

RITUAL 3 - EXTRAVAGANT RELAXATION
Spend even just a few minutes practicing what I call "extravagant relaxation." This is the kind of things that you might laugh out loud at, but put rose petals in your bath, give yourself a foot massage on trigger point balls, lie down with a lavendar eye pillow for twenty minutes. Really luxuriate, and get all Cleopatra with it.


The more we practice these nurturing activities, the more momentum we get in the positive direction of peace, joy, and health!

Whatever you do this weekend, know that I'm sending good vibes your way, and rooting you on. Yep, even in your bubble bath (wait. that's creepy, but you know what I mean).
